Interpreting

For your business meetings, negotiations, presentations or conferences you need a qualified person to bridge the linguistic divide. I undertake intensive preparations in order to familiarise myself with the topic concerned. I will also advise you as to which mode of interpreting is best suited to the event concerned.

Consecutive interpreting

In this mode, long sections of a speech are interpreted after the text has been delivered in the original language. The interpreter makes notes and then repeats the speech in the target language.

Simultaneous interpreting (simultaneous translation)

The speech is translated almost simultaneously while the original is being delivered. The interpreter speaks into a microphone; the audience listens to the translation over headphones.

Whispered interpreting (chuchotage)

This technique can be used when not more than two people want to hear the translation. The interpreter does not use any technical equipment, but simply whispers a simultaneous translation to the listener(s).

In special cases – for example during a guided tour of a factory or a city – the interpreter may use a tour guide system to interpret for small groups.
